EndNote introduces an online community for researchers

2015-06-08来源:EndNote News作者: endnote收藏

If you have EndNote, you have access to a new network of researchers from within EndNote online. It’s still in the beta testing stage, and is intended for students, librarians and professional researchers alike. Part of what makes it unique is that it’s one of few networks created specifically for the academic and research community, with subject groups, polls and the ability to search for people by name or discipline.

Like Facebook, LinkedIn and other social networks, you can search for and add connections. You can post to your own wall and theirs, and view a stream of the latest news on your wall. You can also post polls and invite people to events. What’s more, the EndNote community gives you the opportunity to add your areas of expertise so potential collaborators can find you. You can even upload files to show your research and accomplishments.

What’s Your Interest?

The EndNote community offers groups based on subject areas. These groups include areas for discussion, lists of members – in case you want to connect with them – and the ability to invite people from your own connections list to the group. And while anyone can create a new group for subjects from biology to neuroaesthetics, you can also create a sub-subject of an existing group.

If there are specific researchers or subjects whose updates you’re particularly interested in seeing, add them to your VIP list. If you make your VIP wall your default wall, you will only see VIP posts on sign-in. This means you can connect with as many people as you want and still only see the most relevant posts on your wall. Students can use this to connect with and follow research experts in their field.

If you’re more interested in filtering posts by topic, you can do that, too. You can choose filters by keyword, person, subject and time. You can use these filters to either prioritize or exclude individual stories.

The other thing that’s unique to this community is the EndNote support. You can access EndNote training, as well as how-to tutorials and a discussion group for using the program. This lets you share tips and tricks or have your questions answered by other EndNote users.

Researchers, students and librarians alike can now find tips, discussion and possibly new collaborators in EndNote online.
